is a popular wallet for the Ethereum blockchain that has a browser extension and a mobile app. If you install Metamask for the first time you will need to create a new wallet and note down the security phrase.
You should never share the security phrase or the private key of your wallet with anybody. We will never ask you about that!

Beware of exchange fees - many exchanges charge a high flat fee for buying and transferring MATIC (sometimes up to 15 MATIC). If you are not careful, you can easily overpay when buying sa mall amount of MATIC.
Use the Polygon chain - some exchanges like Coinbase allow you to buy MATIC, but only on Ethereum and not on the Polygon chain! If you do this you will need to the tokens from Ethereum to MATIC for a high fee.
